Rural disaster response
On September 10, 2026, alongside U.S. Department of Transportation, BETA flew its all-electric ALIA CTOL alongside Metro Aviation and Washington County EMS in Brenham, carrying nearly 750 pounds of disaster-response equipment. The mission was the first eIPP flight under the Texas Department of Transportation’s Project Nexus. The flight campaign also included operations along a route connecting Galveston, Sugar Land, and Brenham, supported by a BETA Charge Cube at Scholes International Airport (KGLS) in Galveston. In total, BETA completed 22 flights and covered 1,339 nautical miles. BETA also participated in the Texas eIPP event at Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport (KAFW) on September 10, 2026 alongside U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Duffy, Senator Cruz, Texas state leadership, and other Project Nexus participants.
Washington County EMS answers more than 7,000 calls a year across about 700 square miles, including the Brazos River and Lake Somerville. The demonstration gave its crew a firsthand look at how an electric aircraft could move critical equipment alongside their existing helicopter and ground response. The goal is to make more supply and disaster-response missions practical through lower operating costs, and using the airports, operators, and emergency services already serving rural Texas.
Future BETA eIPP flight missions will expand on these Gulf region routes and will also branch into central and northern Texas alongside other operator partners like Bristow and Future Flight Global.
