Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking

Every challenge we face is an opportunity to think differently. Working in a new industry, these skills are applied often. We look for students and teammates who explore new perspectives and tackle problems with curiosity and creativity. That mindset drives innovation at BETA.

Strong Work Ethic

We are built by people who show up ready to work hard and care the most. A strong work ethic means taking ownership, following through, and not letting your team down—qualities that make a lasting impact on the mission and on the future of aviation.

Technical, Hands-On Skills

At BETA, we value people who learn by doing. Interns and teammates alike get opportunities to apply their technical knowledge in real, hands-on projects that contribute directly to electric aviation—turning ideas into working solutions.

Adaptability and Flexibility

The work we do changes quickly as we design, test, and refine our systems. Students who are adaptable and flexible thrive here, finding energy in the unknown, staying open to new approaches, and embracing feedback.

Current opportunities:

“Perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” These words drew me to BETA Technologies and guided me throughout my internship on the Flight Sciences team. I had the opportunity to work on deliverables impacting aircraft safety, performance, and data quality, all while collaborating with brilliant, passionate individuals across teams. The culture here is unmatched: welcoming, supportive, and inspiring. I was encouraged to ask questions, contribute ideas, and challenge myself every day.  Seeing my work support real progress in electric aviation was deeply fulfilling, and this experience shaped not just my technical abilities but also my appreciation for the values Beta upholds: safety, sustainability, and the pursuit of perfection. I leave this internship incredibly grateful and inspired.
Tilahta Software Engineering Intern - Georgia Institute of Technology
BETA gave me educational and developmental opportunities that I couldn’t have gotten elsewhere. The level of trust and responsibility given to interns allowed me to build experience and confidence in my capabilities with projects spanning a variety of topics, keeping me engaged and constantly expanding my skillset. A company culture with emphasis on supporting others meant I was never without guidance if needed, and every person I interacted with throughout the duration of my internship was kind, helpful, and friendly.
Caroline Battery Intern - University of Vermont
My favorite part about BETA is the ability to make an impact while teaching the skills necessary to thrive. My very first task was to verify our flight computer's hardware requirements as part of risk-reduction testing. Finding test points for verification forced me to scour the schematic, but also gave me a deeper understanding of the circuitry and thought process behind it. Later, this knowledge accompanied me when I laid out for-flight boards, while my mentors taught me to be thorough and take pride in my work. Today, this experience informs my design of a dissimilar flight computer, from finalizing the high-level architecture to carefully evaluating newly selected chips.
Dylan Electrical Engineering Intern - UCLA
During my internship on BETA's Data Science team, I developed manufacturing status tracking and analytics tools that are now used daily across production lines. Watching my work spread throughout the organization and drive real impact was incredibly fulfilling and made me excited to go into work every day. My takeaways from my internship experience went far beyond the technical skills I gained; I worked alongside some incredible people (and their dogs), flew a plane for the first time, and got to ride in a helicopter to get ice cream!

Career Growth

At BETA, we support both current team members and new candidates with opportunities to grow their skills and advance their careers. Through on-the-job training and formal education support, we make it possible to continually learn while contributing to meaningful work. Our rotational programs for workforce-ready roles provide hands-on experience across disciplines, helping individuals earn a degree or certification while laying the foundation for a long-term career in aviation and technology.

We believe in enabling our teammates to be better—by training, explaining, and being transparent. There are no gatekeepers here; instead, we focus on unblocking ourselves and others, sharing mistakes openly, and giving away knowledge so everyone can build on it. Leadership means removing obstacles, enabling each other, and knowing when to step back so others can thrive. Creating an environment where individual growth fuels collective success.

Internship Frequently Asked Questions

What is the BETA Internship Program?
The BETA Internship Program gives students the chance to work on real projects that move electric aviation forward. Interns contribute across engineering, manufacturing, software, business operations, and more — all while collaborating with teammates who are building the next generation of electric aircraft.

Who can apply for an internship at BETA?

Most of our interns are in Bachelor’s or Master’s programs, but we’ve welcomed a few high school interns, too. If you’re still in the early stages of your career journey, our High School Job Shadow Summer Program is a great place to start.

When do internships typically run?
The majority of our internships are in the summer, but we also have semester-long co-ops during the school year. Looking for something off-season? Let us know in your application.
How do I apply?
Submit your application directly through our website with a resume and cover letter. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. If selected to move forward, the first step in the process is a video interview.
Do I need prior experience to apply?
Experience in aviation, rotorcraft, or other high-speed industries is helpful, but not required. We also value curiosity—whether you’ve tinkered, built, coded, or created projects on your own. What matters most is a willingness to work hard and learn.
Can I apply for more than one internship position?
Apply to the role that best aligns with your skills and interests. If none feel like the right fit, submit to our General Internship opening and share in your cover letter how you see yourself supporting BETA’s mission.
What makes a strong application?
Passion, curiosity, and drive.
  • Take initiative and stay organized without needing constant check-ins
  • Can explain complex things simply (and simple things clearly)
  • Thrive in a fast-changing environment
  • Enjoy collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds
  • See problems as opportunities and can’t resist solving them
Are internships competitive?
Yes. We host 65–80 interns each summer, and last year received more than 3,000 applications.
Are internships paid?
Yes. Interns are paid between $22 and $28 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Are there any other benefits provided to Interns?
Lunch is prepared daily by our BETA Eats team, and it’s free for all team members—including interns. You’ll also have access to the BETA Health center and complimentary Ground School and flight lessons.
Is housing or relocation assistance provided?
We don’t provide relocation assistance, but we do partner with a local college to make affordable housing available in downtown Burlington for summer interns. Housing support isn’t currently offered in Montreal, QC, or Raleigh, NC.
Where are internships located?
Our primary internship location is Burlington, VT, with smaller teams based in Montreal, QC, and Raleigh, NC.
What will I be working on?
Interns work on meaningful, hands-on projects that drive progress, test new ideas, and contribute directly to advancing our aircraft and systems.
Will I have a mentor?
Yes. Each intern is paired with a mentor who offers guidance, feedback, and support to help them grow and succeed during their time at BETA.
What training or learning opportunities are offered?
Workshops, lunch-and-learns, team shadowing, and a front-row seat to an industry in motion. You’ll learn a ton just by being here.
Can internships lead to full-time employment?
Yes. Many of our interns have gone on to join BETA full-time after graduation. Strong performance during the program can open the door to future opportunities with the team.
What kind of networking opportunities are there?
Networking at BETA happens naturally: you’ll meet with leaders, collaborate across disciplines, and get involved in community projects that bring people together.
Are international students eligible?
BETA currently accepts applications from U.S. and Canadian citizens. Canadian interns must obtain a visa; BETA will help with the application process, though interns are responsible for the associated costs.
Is there a dress code?
BETA maintains a casual work environment, but closed-toed shoes are required for safety in production areas and facility tours.
Can I earn academic credit for my internship?
Yes, if your school permits it. We’re happy to work with you and your institution to coordinate the necessary documentation and requirements.
Who can I contact with questions?
Email us at interns@beta.team — our team reviews all inquiries and will get back to you.
