Rural and Coastal Healthcare
Under North Carolina’s eLIFT-NC program, BETA flew more than 1,300 nautical miles, demonstrating the critical role electric aviation can play in connecting the Research Triangle to rural and coastal communities. This flight campaign kicked off on September 17, 2026 in partnership with NCDOT, Metro Aviation, ECU Health, and WakeMed and included a historic flyover of the Wright Brothers National Memorial. BETA’s all-electric ALIA CTOL simulated deliveries of medical supplies and a deployable field tent, with operations linking Raleigh Executive Jetport (KTTA), Pitt-Greenville Airport (KPGV), and Dare County Regional Airport (KMQI). The campaign used BETA’s charging infrastructure at Raleigh Executive Jetport, installed in 2024.
ECU Health serves 1.4 million people across 29 primarily rural counties, where distance can complicate access to specialists and critical supplies. North Carolina’s eLIFT-NC program is testing how lower-cost electric flights can move supplies and care teams between regional medical centers and community hospitals. The campaign gathered operating experience for that model, including future disaster-response missions when flooding or storm damage interrupts road and ferry access to the Outer Banks. BETA’s future eIPP missions in the state will expand on these initial flights to further demonstrate how electric aviation can improve access across the state in partnership with Metro Aviation and Causey Aviation.
