Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented mechanical / design engineer. This engineer will work as part of the team developing, designing, and testing BETA’s electric aircraft and supporting the Flight Control Systems team. Working on the Flight Control Systems team, you will be responsible for the development and design of the Flight Control System from component design to installation drawings, as well as supporting both certification and verification of flight control system components. You will play a key role in the support of Flight Control systems, testing, and integration.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
- Support production drawings and technical documentation release
- Perform GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) analysis
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve design challenges
- Participate in design reviews and system integration efforts
- Develop and execute design tests and test setups
- Create comprehensive test reports and technical documentation, and design documents
- Utilize CATIA CAD for detailed mechanical design and drafting
- Assist in the development of aircraft and test environment documentation
- Prepare briefing materials for technical meetings and program reviews
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. (M.S. desired) in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
- 0-3 years of experience in relevant engineering experience
- Report writing skills, attention to detail, and thoroughness
- Self-starter that is organized with the ability to work independently
- Passion for aerospace and electric aviation technology
- Proficiency of 3D CAD software (Catia V6 preferred not required)
Above and Beyond Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience doing hardware verification and testing per DO-160, MIL-STD-810 or MIL-STD-461
- Flight controls system design and engineering experience
- Flight testing and/or system-level Iron Bird/lab testing experience
- Skilled with Microsoft tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Word)
- Pilot’s license or passion for aerospace and/or aviation
- Experience working in production environments, making real-time decisions to deviate, and later apply those product learnings to improve products
- Hands-on manufacturing experience in both metallic and composite assemblies. As well as building and assembling system test setups
Compensation:
$ 85,000 - $ 110,000 / year
