Description
We are seeking a Global Sourcing Specialist to focus on Composite Structures for our New Product Introduction (NPI) Supply Chain team. You will be a composite aero structures subject matter expert, providing guidance and insight to the broader category team. Focusing on support of new products and special projects, you will ensure the composites category is engaged with the right suppliers, has access to key emerging material technologies and is positioned for success when ready to transition from NPI to steady-state production.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
Collaborate w/ key stakeholders (design engineering, supplier quality, production procurement) to create long-term sourcing plans for composite components resulting in improved quality, consistent delivery in support of production, and cost improvement
Define operational strategy and process for New Product Introductions. Specifically in support of composites and aircraft structural components
Conduct market research on composite material trends and innovations
Organize Design for Desired Attribute (DfX) projects with key supply partners helping to inform continuous improvement of designs
Establish and maintain relationships with global composite suppliers
Participate in the generation of Statements of Work (SoW)
Develop Request for Proposal (RFP) packages
Perform total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses, perform benchmarking activities to improve organizational understanding
Drive milestones to ensure projected timelines are held and drive course correction actions
Develop solutions and strategies for improving delivery lead-times on parts and materials
Minimum Qualifications:
Comfortable with frequent change of direction, dynamic work environment, and passion to perform under pressure
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain Management, or related field
5+ years direct experience working w/ composites or managing suppliers providing composite parts
Experience developing and executing category/commodity sourcing strategies [MB1]
Strong communication and presentation skills
Exposure to rapid manufacturing growth and preferably startup experience
Strong ability to perform both as a part of a team and to perform as an individual
Desire to change the world of aviation forever
A passion for flight!
Above and Beyond Qualifications:
Knowledge of Manufacturing techniques (layup, resin infusion, etc.)
Knowledge of inspection methods and technologies
Experience working with international suppliers
Advanced degree in related field
